iPhone XR Review

I, myself, own and use an iPhone XR as my daily driver. All the complaints and bad reviews that I have seen about some of it’s features don’t seem to bother me at all.

For starters, this phone has the BEST battery life out of any iPhone ever made, even better than the XS Max (not by a LOT, but still better). Now that it’s summer and I’m not at school, I fully charge once every two days. I don’t spend much time on my phone as I have a Smart TV and two Xbox’s that I spend more time on, but even during large use cases, it’ll go all day. Don’t even bother thinking whether it’ll survive the school day.

Onto resolution, the iPhone XR has a resolution of 828 x 1792. Which has a density of 326 pixels per inch. I NEVER have been bothered or had any issues with the display, it’s perfectly fine, there’s nothing wrong with it at all. Yes, it could have been a lot better, but think about this, all the non plus versions of every iPhone before the X, had a LOWER resolution than the XR, and no one complained about it, it’s neither good or bad.

Onto weight, this seems like a weird thing to make a whole section about in a review of a phone. But this phone is HEAVY, now I don’t mean like a 5 pound weight, but it is definitely not light, my last phone was a Galaxy S9 and it was a great phone but I just decided to switch back to IOS especially for better app optimization, iMessage and Facetime, but that phone was ever so light. It’s official weight (no case or any accessories) is 194 grams.

Now onto Camera. I’m not really a picture taking type, besides Snapchat, but this camera is perfectly fine, it’s not a dual camera or a triple camera or quad even, but it works and looks good. Best part is, it’s a wide angle! 12MP wide angle to be exact. It’s fine! No problem!

Next, onto the bezels, this is a big one. Okay, yes, it does have rather large bezels when compared to phones such as the Galaxy S10 series and the other iPhone X series phones. But, it isn’t really that big of a deal, the bezels are 5.1mm thick, and remember, you’re getting a 6.1 inch liquid retina LCD with a notch and a overall pretty good, bright, and big screen. Especially when you compare these bezels to the non X series iPhones, it’s nothing! Don’t let 5.1mm decide your purchase!

Last but not least, performance! The Apple A12 Bionic and 3GB Ram is PLENTY. I haven’t had ANY performance issues with this phone at all. It’s perfectly fine. The A12 Bionic is an EXTREMELY powerful chip and you will have no issues with it for the next many years of updates (probably about 4-6, maybe even more!) and although it doesn’t have the 3GB of RAM that the iPhone XS and XS Max have, it is not a problem at all. Most people are still using iPhone 6/7/8 models with 1-3 GB of RAM and it’s fine!

Now I’ve heard people complaining about it not having 3D touch, and my response is as follows. WHO CARES? I have only used 3D touch probably 2 times in my life on older models, it was a merely “okay” feature, it wasn’t that useful and besides, they have already replaced it with Haptic Touch anyways!

In conclusion, while being heavier, and ever so slightly thicker, you’re getting the full iOS experience and an experience with a X series phone with the super fast face ID and all those amazing features. In my opinion, I think it’s an amazing phone.
